Mikayla Lewis, Mental Health Intern

Kayla fosters connection and wellness in the community and believes that having a healthy community means supporting healthy first responders. The stressors and multiple identities that first responders carry impact the decisions made every day in this job. Remaining person focused is the highest priority, and Kayla uses a background from child welfare, community mental health, and personal experience to engage and connect. My experience leads me to support first responders of all walks of life including LGBTQ+. Kayla is expected to graduate with a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and Wellness from New York University in Spring 2024.
